अकोला : कॉग्रेस पक्षाचे वर्चस्व असलेल्या अकोला महापालिकेत यंदा भारतीय जनता पक्षाने सद्यस्थितीत 61 पैकी 35 जागांव विजय मिळविला आहे. शेवटचे वृत्त हाती आले तेव्हा
भाजप: 35, राष्ट्रवादी :9, कॉंग्रेस : 9, भारतीय रिपब्लिकन पक्ष (भारिप)-बहुजन महासंघ (बमसं) : 3, शिवसेना : 3, एमआयएम आणि अपक्ष प्रत्येकी एक जागेवर विजयी ठरले.
कॉंग्रेसचे माजी महापौर मदन भरगड यांच्या पदरी निराशा आली असून अकोल्यात भाजपचे कमळ फुलण्याची शक्‍यता बळावत आहे.
