A one-and-a-half-acre sugarcane crop was gutted in a fire caused by a suspected short circuit at Rajuri in Junnar taluka. Strong winds reportedly caused friction between electricity wires, leading to sparks that ignited the standing sugarcane crop. Farmer Prabhakar Mahadev Hadawale has suffered losses worth lakhs of rupees and has sought compensation from Mahavitaran.
